Birtwick Park Stables at Five Springs Farm is an up and coming equine facility that has been developed to create an all inclusive equine program. Located on a 132 acre farm with tons of pasture and trails for both you and your horse to enjoy; the facility features a 6 stall center isle barn, heated and air conditioned feed and tack room, hot and cold wash stall, hay storage, straw bedding for a dust free and eco-friendly environment, as well as a blue stone arena. There are run-in sheds in all the paddocks as well as automatic waterers. We have jumps and dressage letters available for communal use as well as future plans to build a fun cross country course. Our goal is to bring the style and class of Middleburg while keeping the fun and relax feel of an old country barn.

We developed our name from the famous horse story, Black Beauty. Birtwick Park was the first barn Black Beauty lived at where he met Merry Legs and Ginger. Both Debbie and Allie collaborated with the name and that’s how they came up with Birtwick Park Stables. Their goal is to give the Old English, classic feel that Middleburg, Va has been able to give their equine enthusiast. Allie has been lucky enough to travel to England where she had the chance to visit an Old English barn in the country and ride one of their Highland Ponies. When Debbie came to Allie with this vision she knew exactly where to take it. Allie’s experience with living previously in the Middleburg area and having been to England she was able to help make this vision become reality.

We have a unique riding program that caters to all levels of riders. We not only teach the how but the why as well. We go deeper into the equine world and teach our students the theory and mechanics of your horse. Our program is designed to prepare all our students for owning their own horse and will be equipped with the skills needed to provide the proper care for their horse.

Our training program is designed to bring our horses along slowly, quietly and positively. It has been developed to follow the classic German Training Tree which has proven to make your horse excel as an athlete longer. We won’t turn your 3 year old into an upper level show horse. What we will do is bring him along and develop him to properly balance himself to give him the strength to be an upper level horse with proper conditioning and time.

Safety is our number one rule and we do everything we can to keep our horses and our riders safe.    

With the combined experience of Debbie, Allie and Debbie’s daughter Sarah, there is over 80 years worth of horse experience and care on the facility. Our clients receive world class service at an affordable price.
